Steven Gerrard is hoping to make his Liverpool comeback in the next fortnight.
The Reds captain will resume full training next week with the target of returning to first-team action during their Premier League encounter with Tottenham on September 18.
A groin problem confined Gerrard to the sidelines in March, after playing through the pain barrier against Manchester United, and underwent a series of procedures to correct the problem.
He had originally hoped to return to action in last month's pre-season friendly with Valencia but an infection suffered as a result of the surgeries saw those plans shelved.
But despite the setback, Gerrard has revealed that he has made great progress during his rehabilitation period
“I feel really good and I’m back kicking balls again – it’s all positive,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“I should be back in full training with the team on Thursday or Friday of next week.
“I won’t be involved against Stoke next Saturday but my plan is to hopefully be involved in the game against Tottenham.
“I need to get some full training with the team under my belt and I’llhave a better idea of my fitness condition when I play in
